- Caution:
The Radio Shack 15-1510, 6' S-Video Male to S-Video Male cable's plastic
alignment pin is too large to fit into the female alignment hole on the adapter
from VideoLabs. Other 4-pin mini DIN male plugs fit fine. You either have to
carefully remove the plastic alignment pin in the Radio Shack cable or replace
the plug on the cable with a third party 4-pin mini DIN male plug.

- Question sent to VideoWare:
I'd like to know if your S-Video to RCA Composite adapter that combines
the "Y" and "C" S-Video signals into a Composite Video signal will work
in the reverse direction to split a Composite Video signal into separate
"Y" and "C" signals.
Currently I have a Winnov Videum A/V PCI capture card that has three
inputs.
The first input is an RCA jack Composite Video input that I have an OEM
version of the VideoLabs FlexCam connected.
The second input is an 8-pin mini DIN (called MXC by Winnov) that I have a
Philips Color CCD Composite Video camera connected.
The third input is an S-Video, 4-pin mini DIN connector.
I'd like to be able to connect a third Composite Video camera to the S-Video
connector on the Winnov capture card.
- Answer received from VideoWare:
Our adapter was designed to go from S-Video to RCA, however, to our surprise
a lot of people began using it to go from RCA to S-Video. Some like the
results, others don't. It basically depends on your system configuration.
We've found that inputting the signal to certain video capture cards and
going from RCA to S-Video there's no noticable difference in quality.
However, when you hook up your system to the S-Video input on your S-Video
TV, you may see a faint criss/cross pattern on certain colors. That is because
of the "cross-talk" that happens when you mix the the brightness and colors
signals. Our adapter has a special filter to go from S-Video to Composite and
when it's used to go from Composite to RCA the filter will also kick-in, but on
some systems the cross-talk is still visible.
The good news is that our adapter works just as well as the $100
adapters.
